"The Challenge!!!" can be adapted to be appropriate for students from Kindergarten through High School. The show can be staged just about anywhere, is completely self contained and fully insured. Greetings, my name is Jed Doherty. I am a former licensed, certified social worker. In 1983 I created my on stage character Jedlie. Since that time I have been presenting entertaining, educational magic shows at schools throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. "Our students enjoyed interacting with Jedlie during his recent assembly. Visually students were rapt as magic tricks left us scratching our heads and the message of building safe and caring schools entered our hearts."
Sherry Brown, Principal
In "The Challenge!!!" I use magic, illusion, comedy, music and dance to inspire students and teachers to create a safe and nurturing school. To do this I weave true stories into my magic and illusions that remind us; The majority of my magical stories are taken from real life. To help students understand the pain students experience when mistreated by a bully I tell the story of my son who choose to remain silent as he was tormented and threatened in sixth grade, and how his classmates' silence added to the pain. The story has a happy ending, thanks to a courageous girl in eight grade who transformed her concern into action. To address the issue of cyber bullying I share a heart warming story of a school that used technology and the Internet to help one of their classmates feel like the star of my show as he lay in a hospital bed 80 miles away battling a life threatening illness.
"Students and teachers loved the show. Not only was it entertaining, it also delivered a wonderful and positive message. Students were amazed by the tricks but more importantly the next day they were reminding each other of Jedlie's message to be kind and respectful to each other. It was wonderful!"
"Jedlie gives students the tools to prevent bullying"
"Jedlie's shows are always based on the latest research and empirical data. His message, delivered with fun and enthusiasm, has great meaning for our students."
